What's New For The 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

The most recent incarnation of the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is an all-new model. While it has a streamlined exterior that retains much of the styling cues from the previous generation, this truck is a massive leap forward in terms of technology, comfort, and capability. How Much Horsepower Does It Have?

The naturally aspirated 2.8-liter V-6 produces 310 horsepower, significantly increasing from the previous generation. The conventional 6.2-liter V-8 is considerably more powerful, with a supercharging system that adds about 20 horsepower to the base engine and 300 to the top-of-the-line engine. Like most high-end trucks on the market, all these engines are diesel-powered with selectable four-speed automatic transmissions and manual transmissions available (manual tranny not available with LT Trail Boss trim). In addition to six different engines, this truck has three turbocharged models - all diesel.

What Safety Features Does It Include?

A new combined safety system, known as Intellilink and available on all trims of the Silverado 1500, was introduced in the 2019 model year. It operates through a single touchscreen that gives the driver access to various electronic systems, including lane departure warning (where it alerts the driver when there's a likelihood to drift out of the proper lane) and over-the-air updates for many of these systems with an easy push of a finger.
