2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV Exterior

People have been waiting for the Chevy Electric SUV for years. There's been anticipation and rumors on what this car will be like since General Motors introduced the Bolt, highlighting their technological ability to produce an electric vehicle. Now it appears seemingly out of nowhere, the all-new Equinox EV is here, and it delivers on all fronts; more range, faster charging, a lower price point, and a better driving experience.

What's New for the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV?

The 2020 Equinox EV debuted last year as a slightly larger and more upmarket alternative to the compact Chevrolet Bolt EV. It's also the only non-luxury crossover-shaped electric vehicle on sale right now. We recently spent time with a fully loaded version to determine if it's worth your cash.

New for the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV is the availability of a $3,000 Confidence and Convenience II package that includes ventilated front seats, a hands-free power liftgate, rear parking sensors, and wireless device charging. (A similar package was previously available only on higher trims.) The optional adaptive suspension is also now available on lower trims. Otherwise, this EV carries over unchanged.

Trims & Features

The Equinox is Chevrolet's take on the compact crossover SUV. The new-for-2018 fifth generation of the compact SUV features a more aggressive design and a lighter, more rigid chassis than before. In addition to its standard engine options, this model year brings an all-electric powertrain that can deliver up to 30 miles of electric range but lacks the driving range of other hybrid and plug-in hybrid competitors. The Equinox is available in three trim levels: L, LS, and LT.

Standard exterior features include automatic on/off halogen headlights, LED daytime running lights, heated/power-adjustable manual-folding mirrors, and 17-inch steel wheels with bolt-on wheel covers (L).

The Equinox will be available in four trim levels: the LT, the Premier, LT Diesel, and Premier Diesel. The LT comes standard with a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 170 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque. LT Diesel features a turbocharged 1.6-liter diesel four-cylinder that produces 137 hp and 240 lb-ft of torque, while the Premier gets a 2.0-liter turbocharged gas unit that puts out 252 hp and 260 lb-ft.

Safety is a big one. In recent years, safety has become the number one priority for automakers, and it's no different for Equinox. The Chevrolet Equinox comes standard with a full suite of advanced active safety features, including automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist with lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, and traffic sign recognition. All will be standard on the Equinox EV too.
