Chevrolet Vehicle Service Warning Indicators
Computers have revolutionized auto service, giving us a constant window into the health of our Chevrolet vehicles. As a result, we can instantly see if there's a problem with one of the systems in our vehicle. What a great way to make sure that your brand new (or used) Chevy is always operating at full capacity. Here are 10 of the most common warning indicators you'll see in your Chevrolet.
Airbag Fault
The airbag system activates in the event of a collision, often saving the lives of the driver and passenger. Sometimes things can go wrong with the system, though. If your airbags aren't working properly, you'll get an airbag fault light.
Low Fuel Level Warning Light
Running any vehicle on low fuel is a bad idea. The "low fuel" light is one of the most useful of all indicator lights. It lets you know to make a quick stop to a gas station to refuel. Once you do that, this light should go off.
Oil Pressure Warning Light
Have you got enough oil in your vehicle? Low or dirty oil can cause an oil pressure warning light to activate. This is a sure sign that you need to investigate the oil levels of your Chevy vehicle. If it's low, replenish with new oil; if it's not low, visit our dealership to reset the light.
Service Vehicle Soon
Every 5,000 or more miles, most vehicles need some regular service, such as a tire rotation or oil change. If you haven't serviced your vehicle, many modern vehicles will let you know it's due for service. Visiting our dealership will let you know what service it's time for.
TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System)
Deflated tires are dangerous. We all know that, but sometimes we aren't aware that our tires are low. This handy system - the TPMS - informs you that your tires have low pressure and need to be filled.
Slip Indicator
Traction and vehicle stability management systems are vital in making sure you get a smooth drive. If your vehicle is slipping on wet or hazardous roads, and your traction isn't working, you might get a TRAC light. Once your vehicle regains traction, the light should turn off. If it remains lit, it means you need to have our dealership evaluate your vehicle for issues.
Charging System Warning Light
Power comes from the battery and other electrical systems in your Chevrolet car, truck, or SUV. A charging system warning light cautions you that something isn't functioning right in one of these components.
Brake System
Do you notice braking difficulties? Is your car not as sharp at stopping as it once was? It could be a brake system issue. This light lets you know it's time to pay us a visit for a diagnostic on your braking components.
Open Door Warning Light
Who hasn't failed to close one of their car doors at some point in life? It's a common mistake. Your vehicle will let you know if you need to check your doors or your trunk to close it properly.
Coolant Level Warning
Coolant puts the "cool" in your engine and other components so that they don't overheat. A low coolant warning level alerts you to the need for more coolant. Don't know how to add it yourself? Visit our Chevy dealership for a quick refill on coolant.
